Thoughts of Gold

I // if I walk in thoughts of gold / tranquil but never still / and ask who is standing at the door / in the lazy journeys comfort / allow my kiss to sink into the fragrance of your skin / try not to disturb the dust on the floor / or get lost in the forests of time / but bask in my sincere informal luxury / till you’ve had your taste , had your fill / do not hide your great romance within / II // if I turn to face faces of silver / let the others drink the whiskey on the counter / while the future cries in it’s static rage / stuck in the past that is forever / singing drunken tainted melodies / to Raskolnikov’s squirming soul / let them forever remain prisoners of circumstance / III // if I bask in earthly glory / remembering / the first time that Manitou took away my wind / and left a sweet tickle in a frivolous heart / leave me to sun in the spirits glory / and turn my face towards the sky / IV // if I stand corrected / at the innocents brawl / and for a moment step away / from the sanitized correct role of denial /
and watch paupers , peasants and poor keep the peace / while kings ,queens and governments commit mass murder / uniformed hoodlums answering the call / mindless soldiers / enforcing politicians bribed law / the carpenters son and the bootleggers in cahouts / swinging guns and propaganda / V // if I walk in thoughts of gold / tranquil but never still / allow my kiss to sink into the fragrance of your skin / you hold the only honest place I have left to go.
